Parenting Time (Visitation)

Parenting time, previously known as Visitation, concerns itself with how much time the non-custodial parent has to visit with his or her child/children. When parents can’t agree, the matter is often referred to the Friend of the Court for an investigation into what’s best for the children. It should be noted that the courts favor parenting time for both parents except in cases where it is shown that such is not in the child’s best interests. A “reasonable parenting time” schedule is often put in effect in situations where the parties can’t agree. This often includes overnight visits on alternating weekends, alternating holiday visits, and a few weeks of visitation during summer months.
